Clean Getaway: Review

Clean Getaway Review

*This book was given to me by the publisher to give an honest review*
I give this book 3.5 stars. This book was about a relationship between a black kid and his white grandma. It talks about how people can still be rude about being different races or how they treat others because of it. This was a cute book because of the relationship between the main character and his grandma. I loved all the little trips they went to and how they had fun. I saw the ending coming but it wasn't a whole mystery. The author wrote the book well, especially for Nic's first middle-grade novel. There were also amazing drawings in the book which I liked since I haven't read middle-grade novels in a long time. The reason I gave it 3.5 stars is because I haven't read middle-grade novels in a long time so I didn't know what I expected. It's not what I would usually read but I liked the writing and how it was about reality. I would recommend this to young readers and I think this will do well for a class novel.
