*This book was sent to me by the publisher to give an honest review. this book was published on August 11 but I received this book two-three days before so I didn’t have time to read and review.*
𝑹𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔: 2/5 stars
𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘: I used to read so many graphic novels and loved them. After a while, I decided to start reading them again but this one I didn't enjoy so much. This is a re-imagining of a classic Breton folktale about Queen Malgven who used her magic to keep Ys safe from the sea. After her death, two sisters separate but one of the sisters has to pay a debt to keep the kingdom safe. Now the summary sounds great but I wish there was more story behind it. I know it's a graphic novel but I wished there was more story to Queen Malgven and the sisters. There wasn't much of a huge plot to it but I did enjoy the art in this book. Though the story could have been better.
I did enjoy the characters Rozenn and Dahut but I wish there was more to the story. It was nice to see what each of them saw in their kingdoms and how they wanted to save it in their own ways. They have drifted apart after their mother's death and didn't properly connect after. I was hoping to see development between the two sisters and seeing them develop. I was disappointed by this.
I was hoping for more to this story because the summary sounded great but it didn't keep up with its expectations. The art was wonderful but not the writing. The only part I enjoyed in this book was seeing how the sisters thought they could save the kingdoms their own way. Even though I didn't enjoy this book I think some will.
