Somebody Give This Heart a Pen: Review

Somebody Give This Heart a Pen by Sophia Thakur

Rating: 4/5 stars

Review: I'm not a huge poetry fan but enjoyed this one. The poetry was raw and had so many emotions in each story. The author talks about self-love, race, relationships, family, pain, and love. The writing was really beautiful and flowed from one poem to the next. In some poems, you can feel the author's emotions when she was writing and understand what she felt. There is also less poetry, in my opinion, that is being written these days and seeing poetry talking about current times speak out more. This poetry could be perfect for classroom learning. This is less than 100 pages so I recommend it if you need a short but emotional read or if you are a huge poetry fan then I totally recommend this one.
