About the Book:
1. How did you get the idea of writing The Sound of Stars?
I'd just shelved two books I wrote, and then, out of nowhere, I was inspired by the idea of a secret, illegal library. Which got me to thinking, why is it illegal? And then it evolved over the course of a long walk into a story about a rebel librarian and an alien who loves music. This is often how my mind works, one minute I have a fragment of an idea, and the next, it's a full-fledged plot bunny that I tend to follow on the page!

2. There are some music lyrics in the book, how did you feel while writing them? Also was it easy to write?
I LOVE music so much. My dad, uncle, mom, grandfather (and more!) were musicians. Music was a big part of my childhood, and remains a big part of my life. I found writing was a great way to explore my love of writing lyrics. I broke THE SOUND OF STARS up into four parts, based on Starry Eyed song lyrics, to give the reader hints, and to add another layer of art. It brought me so much joy to write them, and include them, and I hope readers love them as well.

3. What is the key message in this book?
Hope. The Sound of Stars is dark at times, and sometimes it feels like all is lost, but it tries to find joy wherever possible, and it begs you to fight for the future.

4. Where can readers purchase your books?

1. What are some of your favorite sci fi books? 
Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler,  The Disasters by MK England, Opposite of Always by Justin A. Reynolds, Warcross by Marie Lu, Jumper by Steven Gould… oh there are so many!

2. If you could travel to any other planet other than Earth which one would you choose and why? 
Andarra, of course!

3. What do you like to do other than writing? 
I’m a former pastry chef and librarian, so you can find me baking and reading cookbooks!

The Sound of Stars: Review

Review: 
I really enjoyed this book. I loved the story and the plotline. I don't read many sci-fiction books but this one nailed it. I love the involvement of different aliens and how they destroyed art (well not this part) but it was interesting how the author came up with this story. It was amazing seeing the main characters, Janelle and Morris, save the world because of their passion for books and music. The author dropped little hints with creating her own lyrics of songs that were created from everyone's used to be favorite band. I did love the writing style and my favorite part was bringing in song lyrics and books! There were so many of my favorites that were mentioned. The pacing was slow in the beginning but then it picked up speed.

The story itself was very interesting. I felt connected with the main characters a lot and understood their passion for books/music. Their adventures were spot on my favorite because I loved how their romance was building up. Their relationship wasn't instant love but a slow burn and there was the right amount of romance with no steamy scenes (I guess because they had to save the world). I also liked the side characters but my favorite was the band. I would talk about it more but I can't spoil it.


The part I didn't like about the book was the ending. The ending confused me a little and I didn't fully understand what happened. I think I understood it but not fully sure. Other than that I did enjoy the book.
