The Surface Breaks: Compare and Contrast

The Surface Breaks is a retelling of The Little Mermaid. Today there will be a compare and contrast of both The Surface Breaks and The Little Mermaid to see how similar it is.

The Surface Breaks

• The women put pearl on their fishtails

• She was engaged to a merman.

• The Sea Witch gave Gaia a 2nd chance
• Oliver had a girlfriend which made it harder for Gaia to get his attention even after his girlfriend's death.
• She turned into a rusalka at the end and didn't marry the prince

• both lost their voice

The Little Mermaid

• Her father lets her join the human world at the end
• She is 16 years old
• She had animal friends to guide her
• She lived happily ever after with Prince Eric
